Be-U-tiful Banner
To begin our Senior year Math we began with a little project titled "Be-U-tiful Banners" This project entailed we exercise our creative capacity through the creation of banners displaying quotes chosen by us and art to represent them. Along with the creation of these banners we also made mathematical expressions that would help us express what we were excited for Senior year. For example, one might write "This year I am excited 4x4/4 graduation" which would translate to "This year I am excited 4 graduation."
The quote I chose is "Courage is knowing what not to fear." which is a quote by Plato. This quote inspires me by allowing me to realize that there is no need to be afraid of everything, or anything for that matter. This quote really inspired me when I read it because I'm going into my final year of High School, and the pressure is on. There are so many things that I will have to experience within the next couple of years, and some of those scare a lot of people. Yet thanks to this quote I've realized that if other people can get through life, I can too. So it's the comfort I find in knowing I don't have to fear life that inspires me to do my best.
I believe my quote will hopefully maybe get people thinking and really trying to analyze the concept of fear. Perhaps is will have people looking at some of the things that they fear and asking themselves, "Should I really be afraid?". Through this inspiration I hope to tackle some of the biggest fears most people my age would have at around this time of year. This includes college applications, Senior year work load and community-college courses. I also am taking the challenge of Calculus, which I was really hesitant and fearful of doing because of the challenge it would test me with. Although I considered the following, if other people before me had passed the class, why couldn't I? Thus to conclude, fear is not something that should stop us from doing anything, and it's really something that should push us to the limit. Fear, in other words, is just another setback in our journey to being the best version of ourselves. |
